The "Comparison Trap" that slows down spiritual growth
Dec 10, 2022One of the most common ways people block their own success is...
by comparing themselves to others.
I remember when I first read, "The Surrender Experiment" by Michael Singer
Have you read that one?
Oh, it's a great book! Highly recommend it.
Anyways, Michael Singer shares his story which is all about surrendering
and trusting the universe.
That dude let go... and trusted the universe... to a degree that is just crazy!
And you know what?
ββHe had a VERY impressive and fascinating life!
He basically surrendered his way to starting a billion dollar company!
He's also a very respected spiritual teacher, author of best seller "The Untethered Soulβ"βββ
NOW on the other end of the spectrum...
You have a guy likeββ David Goggins.
Have you heard of him?
He's a trip! lol
He's ran MULTIPLE "ultra marathons" - that's 100 miles per race!
He's also been through the Navy Seal training boot camp...
ββ3 times!
His motto is...
You can "will" yourself to do just about anything.
and you know what?
He's living proof that can work.β
A problem I have run into many times in my life is...ββββββββββββββββββ
and maybe you can relate?
I would become inspired by folks like this...
and then try to model them.
My efforts would always result in a disappointing failure.
and I'd get really down on myself and think there was something wrong with me.
The reality is...ββ
I don't possess the same mental strength as David Goggins...
and I am just not there yet spiritually to surrender like Michael Singer.
BUT...
The difference now is...
I'm okay with that :)
Now that I have accepted my current state and also my limitations.
ββI can make gradual improvements
ββat a "pace" that isn't overwhelming. β
and funny enough this snails pace is actually much faster than I was going before!
Also, it allows me to enjoy my life :)
and enjoy this incredible path of awakening.
I no longer need to be anywhere other than where I'm at.β
Well, actually I'm still working on that too! haha
I have "improved" in this area and as a result I am much happier.
So what about you?
Do you sometimes overwhelm your poor little inner child trying to keep pace with some of the world's most extreme and impressive examples?
Well if so my friend then hopefully this little letter can give you permission to be okay with doing your best.
and honoring your own unique journey, and pace.
Much love,
Sincerely,
Victor
